The stylish Casa das Palmeiras guest house is situated on the green island of São Miguel, at the centre of Ponta Delgada’s old town. Built by the Countess of Cuba in 1901, the historical building now is equipped with modern, elegant, and comfortable furnishings. Its architectural style differs from the adjacent buildings while staying greatly reminiscent of the origins of its original builder. The building’s ground floor has grand stucco ceilings and mosaic floors, with a lobby offering tea and coffee around the clock. The rooms are spread out across the ground floor and first floor. The original building substance has been lovingly preserved. Every room at Casa das Palmeiras is named after a different endemic plant and features decorative elements of that plant.
