Furnas Nook
The Furnas Nook holiday flat is in the eastern part of the island of São Miguel, centrally in the village of Furnas and in the middle of a large collapse crater that has long been covered in greenery. Furnas is the place of bubbling geysers, hot springs, and marvelous thermal baths. The holiday flat with two separate bedrooms, fully equipped kitchen, terrace with barbecue and sun loungers couldn`t be more centrally located. A wood-burning stove in the living room provides cozy warmth in the winter months. Very close to the holiday home is the information center for microorganisms, many bubbling geysers and ferruginous thermal water for tapping and drinking. A special attraction in the village is the beautiful Terra Nostra Park botanical garden with a warm, ferruginous thermal bathing lake. Hiking enthusiasts can hike to Lake Furnas in just over an hour, where geothermal heat is used to cook the famous Cozido stew. You can then enjoy it in a restaurant just round the corner (now also vegan) if you book in advance. Of course, there is also a road leading to Lake Furnas. There are wonderful lookout points a little higher up on the crater rim. After an exciting day of exploring, why not unwind on your sun terrace - or enjoy a cozy reading session in front of the open fire.
