Guesthouse Comodoro

The Guesthouse Comodoro is located in the middle of the only village on the small, charming Azorean island of Corvo. Though Vila do Corvo has no more than 400 residents, it has plenty to offer with a museum, a school, a health centre, a gymnasium, a cheese dairy, shops, an airport, cafés, and a restaurant. The island itself is only about 17 km² in size and will fill up with birdwatchers from around the world in spring and autumn as it is the first place where countless migratory birds coming from America touch land. Equipped with large binoculars and good cameras, visitors set out to observe and count birds. In the summer months a natural bathing spot affords refreshing baths, and as many as three official hiking trails cross the entire island. The beautiful, large “Caldeirão do Corvo” collapse crater doubtlessly is a sight worth seeing, with a hiking trail leading about 300 m down into it and once around the bottom, past moss, wet spots, small lakes, overgrown crevasses, and grazing cows. Let the special charisma of the smallest Azorean island enchant you and enjoy the wonderful tranquillity on this small piece of land in the vast Atlantic Ocean.
