Quinta do Torcaz

Quinta do Torcaz is located in the village of Pedro Miguel on the west side of Faial Island, just a few kilometres from Horta, the island’s largest town. The accommodation’s name derives from the protected endemic Azorean “torcaz” wood pigeon that has chosen the Quinta’s property as a nesting site. It is essential for spreading seeds of native Azorean plants. The former farmhouse has been restored, retaining its original structures, and transformed into the current country-house accommodation. Part of the complex used to be the Atafona, a building that formerly housed farm animals and agricultural equipment. The farmhouse complex, preserved over generations, combines original structures with contemporary comfort and modern facilities. The black basalt of the Azores and local wood are the Quinta’s predominant building materials. The accommodation offers five holiday homes, all named after the most famous endemic plants of the Azores. Quinta do Torcaz is the ideal place for travellers who enjoy peace and quiet in beautiful nature. Relax on the spacious sun terrace with comfortable outdoor furniture and enjoy magnificent views of the blue Atlantic Ocean and the majestic Pico volcano, Portugal’s highest mountain.
