Golfing on São Miguel

The Azores enjoy perfect golfing conditions all year round thanks to the Gulf Stream reaching as far north as the Atlantic Ocean, offering our visitors unique championship courses for golf enthusiasts. The Azores are still an insider tip among golfers, but this is sure to change soon. There are currently two golf courses on the island of São Miguel. The Batalha Golf Course and the golf course in Furnas.

The Batalha golf course was built in 1993 and is located at an altitude of 127 meters. It`s located on the north coast of São Miguel - only a 15-minute drive from the center of the capital Ponta Delgada. It`s one of the best golf courses in Portugal and tee times do not have to be booked months in advance. Just drop by and play a round.

The Furnas Golf Course is a 45-minute drive from Ponta Delgada. It is a fantastic golf course in the middle of a volcanic landscape. Close by is the idyllic village of Furnas with its famous botanical garden Terra Nostra Park and Lake Furnas with its famous hot springs. Golfers have been able to enjoy this unique setting while playing since 1936. The course is located at an altitude of 504 meters.

The two golf courses belong together. Therefore it is possible to book a golf package for several rounds and play on both courses.
