Pico day climb

Pico Mountain, 2,351 meters, is the highest mountain in Portugal and is the most unique experience. The volcano towers majestically over the island as if it was guarding it. The challenging hike starts at the foot of the mountain on the highlands. At the mountain house you will meet your mountain guide, who will support you to conquer the mountain and will guide you along the easiest paths on the marked trails. After the arduous climb, which lasts on average between 3 1/2 - 4 hours (about 1,000 meters of altitude), you will be rewarded with a magnificent view. With great visibility (considering the weather) you can see all islands of the central group. Then the descent takes place, no less challenging. With a good physical condition the climb can be a highlight of any Azorean holiday.
