Island tour on São Jorge
With the local company AvenTour you have the opportunity to explore the island of São Jorge in a jeep. Here you can enjoy exceptional views of forests, cliffs and the sea. You will not easily forget this kind of adventure. With the 4x4 vehicles you visit places that would not be accessible with "normal" cars. Experience something new and get to know the island in a different way. You can choose between a half-day tour and a full-day tour.
Full Day Tour:
Here you will experience an adventure exploring the entire island from the west to the east coast. You will see the highlights and many attractions of the island. In order to experience hill and dale, asphalted roads are avoided. Passing flowering hydrangeas and waterfalls that invite you to bath in. Once you have arrived on the island’s mountain range, you can enjoy a view of the entire island from Pico da Esparanca, the highest point on the island. In addition, you can view some other islands of the Central Group of the Azores in the distance. From volcanic lakes to deep views along the cliffs, there are plenty of things to do on these 150 kilometers of driving. Overall, this trip is about 7 hours. A small lunch or a picnic is included.
Half-day tour:
The half-day tour is especially interesting for people who may not have enough time to explore the island. AvenTour tries to show you as much of the island as possible while keeping an eye on the adventure. As many impressions as possible will be perceived by the island, the mountain and the fajãs. Passing ponds and waterfalls and spectacular views that are not easily forgotten. The route is designed to see many of the island's highlights and attractions, therefore avoiding paved roads. In total, about 75 km are driven. The trip takes about 4 hours.
